Omid 16B – Alola // Sexonwax // Bedrock

“Some DJs and producers have their finger on the pulse Omid 16B is the pulse. Music runs through his veins.” – DJ Mag.

Growing up in London, with Persian roots, Omid was influenced by the likes of Jimi Hendrix, The Cure, Depeche Mode, RIDE and The Mission. In the Early nineties the ‘Acid House Movement’ was turning heads, and Omid’s tastes became increasingly more electronic based rather than indie rock.

In 1993, he made the pivotal step of setting up his deep-house label Alola Records, followed by his tech-house driven Disclosure imprint in 1995 and later down the road, SexOnWax Recordings in 2002.

Definitely from the old school, but with roots firmly in ‘the next level’, his productions continue to inspire thousands. His game changing remix of ‘Gus Gus – Believe’ featured as the opening track on the iconic ‘Northern Exposure 2’ release by Sasha & Digweed, a remix so mesmerizing that it was Omid’s version used in the music video by Gus Gus themselves. Then there is the timeless sounds of ‘In between your Choice’ as well as the commercial success that came his way when he collaborated with Richard Morel on the hit single ‘Escape (Driving To Heaven)’.

As an industry leader, Omid has always been at the forefront of experimental release strategies for his material. In collaboration with DJ Magazine, he was instrumental in launching ‘Face Off’ in 2006, one of the first and most successful cover mount CD Series.

In between solo projects, he continues to evolve the SOS project with his partner Demi, a project with a milestone achievement of a Radio One Essential Mix and two critically acclaimed SOS compilations – ‘Balance 013’ and ‘Ministry of Sound presents SOS’.

Finally, the past few months have seen Omid very busy promoting 20 years of Alola with a series of events worldwide accompanied by releases from distinguished Alola label members, and also putting the finishing touches to ‘Sounds Like Alola’ Volume 4 and a new 16B artist album.

As a DJ, Omid maintains an international schedule and tours extensively throughout Europe, the U.S. and Asia. He lays down intelligent and enchanting sets that blend together everything from sublime deep house through to dark, yet soulful, emotive techno.

We’ve welcomed Omid to Austin a few times over the past couple of years and his sets have always been ear catching. This time we’re pleased to have him in Kingdom so he can let rip on their sound system.
